Changing nozzles frequently? Not quite sure which nozzle is currently in which printer? Here's a straightforward indicator for nozzle size and material.

Update 12/7/23: Added an (untested) remix with three wheels, for nozzle type (standard or CHT).

Nozzle sizes include 0.15, 0.25, 0.3, 0.4, 0.6, and 0.8 mm. Materials include B (brass), C (nickel-coated copper), S (steel), T (tungsten carbide), X (Nozzle-X, or anything else).

Version History

UPDATE 12/26/22: Added T for Tungsten Carbide

UPDATE 2/2/21: While the original version worked fine, I wanted something that was a bit more resilient to accidental bumps -- which I seem to be doing a lot... So I made a few changes:

You can now optionally use two M3x6mm screws to hold everything together.

I added a "bump and notch" system to the dials and the bottom part, to keep the dials from rotating on their own.

I didn't update the clip-on version of the bottom as I don't use it myself. It should be compatible with the new top.

UPDATE 1/29/21: Added a simple clip-on base for mounting to the x-axis of the Mk3S.

Print instructions

Resolution: 0.2mm
Infill: 10%
Supports: I suggest using supports for the bottom part. They should come out easily if you push with a 2.5 mm hex wrench from the backside.

I used Prusament Jet Black and Orange PETG but PLA works fine.

For two color prints, add a filament swap at 3.2 mm, or use the .3mf files.

Post-Printing

Put one dial on each of the pegs of the bottom component, then click the top cover in place. It should be a press fit; if needed, use glue. Version 2 allows for the optional use of two M3x6 screws for added rigidity.

I used double-sided tape to mount the indicators on my printer enclosures.

The X-axis mount is a tight fit and may take some serious push.

Fusion 360 .f3d file included
