#0074 Original Prusa Enclosure (OPE) Slit Cover / Plug

The Prusa Enclosure has almost 50 slits to provide anchor points for zip ties, which are very convenient.  

Unfortunately they are also very leaky - they allow heated air to escape the enclosure, which then creates a vacuum that pulls in cooler air from outside.  Not great if the objective is to heat up the air inside the enclosure.

This slit cover (or plug) blocks air flow at these slits and helps create a finished look for the enclosure.

CAUTION: do not use PLA for this part. It is too brittle to flex successfully (and break) to allow the snap to work.  Use PETG or ABS.  Tested with Polymaker PolyLite ABS.

NOTE: for maximum layer adhesion, use nozzle temps on the high side of your filament's recommendations.

Features: 

1. Quick print and no supports needed.
2. Has a slot to accommodate the slits with a zip tie already in place.  Just make sure the zip tie is in the center of the slit for the plug to clear it.
3. Has an undercut to allow easy removal of plug if needed.

Print 50-60 pieces of these little plugs (to allow for some breakage as you experiment with snapping them in place.  If none break, you'll have a few left over as spares.
 

Installation Instructions:

1. Start by tilting the cover as shown.

2. Apply pressure with your finger as your rotate the plug into place until it clicks in.
