This is a bowl I designed to keep ants out of my chicken feed. My chickens love mealworms, but the ants like them more. If I put them in a regular bowl I'll usually have 30-100 ants inside the dish within 15 minutes, and the chickens wont even bother eating.
Add water to the base, and thread the top in and the ants can't swim across.
I tested this by putting it outside with some mealworms close to the ants. I left it for 3 hours and there were 2 ants in it, however they were stuck and just ran around in circles unable to find their trail back to the nest.
I do not recommend using anything other than water as it could poison the animals.
This was designed for my CR-10, however you can scale it down to 75% to fit the Ender 3. Photos are of 75% scaled down version, printed on Ender 3.
Print the base oriented correctly (opening facing up) and the top oriented upside-down (opening on build plate)
Ive printed with both a .4 nozzle, and a .8 both work well
I used 20% infill, and just increased the top/bottom layer thickness, and wall thickness to create a better seal between layers. I used 4 layers for each setting.
Printed with supports touching the baseplate at 50 degrees or higher so it only supports the bottom of the bowl. I then used needle nose pliers to pull the bits of support interface off of the bowl.
I recommend PETG, and you should print at a slightly higher temp to ensure a good seal between layers so the water doesn't slowly leak out.
