A while back, I made a new teleprompter for my camera to help me record videos (since I turn into a blubbering idiot without one), but the new teleprompter was too big and ended up hiding the built-in display on my camera.
So in an effort to restore my ability to see how good (or bad) I look while filming talking head portions of my videos, I decided to build a brand spanking field monitor, for as cheap as possible!
In the end, I spend about $40 plus shipping on this 7” field monitor, which is well under half the price of similar ones on Amazon. It comes with a 5v battery pack that lasted about 5 hours during testing, and could support touch screen applications if you wanted to slap a Raspberry Pi on it, or to use it with your computer!
