Apple Find My Card tracker, only 2.4mm thin (AirTag card alternative)

Battery is still full after 1 month and it still work perfectly.

Introduction

AirTag is too thick and expensive and I will probably never use the precise location thing.

You can buy certified Apple Find My like Chipolo, Eufy,…

There also Find My cards like Chipolo Card, Eufy SmartTrack Card, Pebblebee Card or Rolling Square Aircard, they are all expensive

Except the Pebblebee, none of these cards can be recharged again, they go to trash and need to be replaced after 2 years

So I've created a case for a cheap compatible Find My tracker that is thinner than the original case

Card is the exact size of a credit card and only 2.35-2.40 mm (Two credit cards)

What you need:

• A smart tracker like this one (Smart Tag, many names but you need exact one like in the link)
• A soldering iron
• A Piezo speaker of 20mm if you'd like to keep the speaker (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004471717348.html)
• A CR2016 coin cell battery (Half the battery life of a CR2032 but only 1.6mm thin)
• Thin wires
• A NFC tag if you want to stick one inside the case and program it like a business card

1. First you need to remove the board from the case by removing the three white pins marked in red
2. You need to de-solder the speakers pins and just keep the pads in blue, you can insert the soldering iron inside the pin and wait to be enough hot to remove it
3. Then finally you need to de-solder the battery connectors in yellow 

You can reuse the Piezo speaker inside the SmartTag case, it will be less loud than the 20mm one

Wiring is really simple

• Positive on top in red that get crushed and make contact when using the cover
• Negative in black in the bottom that get crushed by the coin cell and making contact
• Board speaker top connector to speaker ring
• Board speaker bottom connector to speaker centrer

You can configure the tracker before or after wiring in the Apple Find My app, check manual of SmartTag

The case can be dissembled easily by using a screwdriver into the holes where the pins are

I have no ideas how the battery life hold up but the CR2016 are inexpensive and easy to buy
