First built in 1938, the Boeing 314 Clipper was a long-range, flying boat luxury airliner used by Pan American Airlines for trans-Atlantic and trans-Pacific flights. Before the jet engines and large runways became common following World War II, flying boats were the quickest way to cross the oceans.
In 1941, when the US entered WWII, Pan Am's NC18602 California Clipper was in New Zealand and unable to return to the US via Pearl Harbor. Instead, the crew departed for New York, on a five week journey westward across southeast Asia, Africa, and South America, becoming the first commercial aircraft to circumnavigate the globe.
This kit card is 5" x 7", and results in a 1:100 scale model with some fine detail. Print at 0.2mm. 0.1 should not result in any improved detail.
NOTE: Submitting now for the contest as it prints and assembles fine, but I will continue to refine it over the next few days, especially since my first print was rough.
