For my parametric pegboard drawers, I needed some sort of printable fastener I could use to attach things without needing support. I liked the idea behind some printable rivets I saw, but they were designed to be printed upright, putting the greatest stress along the weakest axis of the part. In my tests, they were too brittle to be used reliably.

I designed these rivets to be printed horizontally without needing support, allowing for strong, flexible parts. They have built-in breakaway tabs to help them adhere to the print bed, and can be easily pulled off with pliers or flush cutters after printing. The head is designed to be used with a countersunk hole to allow flush mounting, and a countersunk M3 screw can be used to lock the rivet in place for secure mounting.

They've worked well for me printed in both PETG and PLA, although I slightly prefer the more flexible PETG for this application.

  • edit: Rotated default orientation in STL to print orientation for convenience.

Sizes

I've included STLs sized for three thicknesses of pegboard – 0.16", 0.12", and 0.08". I find the 0.16 size works well for the standard fiberboard pegboard, and 0.08 works well for Wall Control - style painted steel pegboard.

The Fusion360 file is parametric for adapting to other thicknesses.
