I am getting started into fly fishing and got a Redington Path II fly rod (6wt 9' length). The butt of the rod is metal, and when needing to hook the fly line on the rod, or change the fly, I didnt like putting the bare metal on the ground.
I quickly modeled a hemisphere and extension to push on the butt end of the rod, as a butt cap, so that I dont scratch rod when I need to put it on the ground.
I printed in ABS, but TPU might be better (and probably could use an overhang). It is a good tight fit, but if to be safe, maybe scale up or down a percentage.
I printed with 10% infill and 3 perimeters.
