The Afterburner is an additional part that adds static blades after the moving fan blades to increase static pressure output of a Noctua A4 (40mm) fan.
It's designed to interface with the duct from the AnkerMake M5 Direct Noctua A4 Extruder Fan Mount as a way to get just a bit more performance out of the fan. Don't expect any miracles with this, but it can give you that slight boost you need when the ambient temp is hot.
I printed mine in PETG, but it doesn't really get hot at all so use whatever you'd like. I used supports just to get cleaner blades, but I don't think they're required. I'd be interested to see what this would be like printed in TPU.
I remixed a model I found on here for speed of design, but was initially inspired by the Voron StealthBurner's extruder fan mount. Their’s is a bit more polished but this one is effective from my limited “feel the output with my finger” tests.
Print testing has gone great and I haven't noticed any stress or abnormal noise from the Noctua fan. It will be a touch louder after install, but you won't notice it at all from 6 feet (2 meters) away.
This is just a “good enough” starting point, but feel free to remix this design (I do not have a CAD model) and post it!
