You can find a lot of replacement spools for filament samples on this site. My construction is as lightweight as possible.
I wanted to create a functional spool that prints quickly, no threads, you just glue the two parts together, wind a sample of filament, put it in a bag (IKEA STAD 2,5l).
And why does the spool have a larger diameter? Well, small amounts of filament tend to unwind from the spool. However, if I wind it to a larger diameter, the filament holds in a self-clamping manner.
I recommend printing from PETG, possibly ABS or ASA. You can also use PLA, but then the spool may be damaged during drying.
Printing the model does not require any special settings. See the attached 3MF file for detailed print settings. No supports.
Both parts are simply glued with Superglue or Epoxy Adhesive.
If you want to modify the model, I am attaching the STEP file and a link to my OnShape.
You can customize the model by simply changing variables.
