EDIT 20210127 Added Holders for Flush cutters, Pliers that come with Prusa Printers and IPA-Spray bottle holder. Also found out that all parts can be printed without supports :)
EDIT 20210120 Now works with the IKEA Skadis System
Since I got my MMU2s I had to conquer the problem of available space on my printing station.
After some nights of tinkering I present you my concept of a modular, well organized system that is able to be quickly mounted on a Pegboard - the MegaMount As a little extra I also designed a additional mounting plate that allows you to mount the system on any other solid underground. :)
Advantages
modular and extendable expand the system after your needs. Only print the Parts you need and don't buy premade sets from which you will only use half of the parts. For this reason i added the .f3d- and .step-file of the mounting plate and its counterpart :)
fast and easy to swap Do you want to try a new setup or do you got new tools? Rearrange everything in a matter of seconds or design your own holders.
reduces material waste In case you overload a spoolholder, only the mounting plate will break, so no need to reprint the whole part. Print a new mounting plate instead (My long term tests show, that the Spoolholder is capable to easily hold 1 kg Spools).
space saving Ideal for small spaces. There is no need to occupy space on your desk or workbench with Spoolholders and MMU Buffers. Mount it on the wall!
easy to print and assemble with the provided gcode and printing instructions you can't fail. The system uses minimal supports and is assembled in minutes
Use parts you already have The Spool holders use parts of the MMU2s Spool holders and even double the quantity of Spool holders
blends in with the prusa design language Because Prusas design already is solid, simple and excellent!
nice to look at Be honest, doesn't it look cool?
What you get
001 standard mounting plate for pegboards fits regualr pegboards with 1 inch spaces
002 mounting plate for solid underground fits flat head and countersunk screws
003 low friction spoolholder (parts a & b)
004 MMU2s buffer holder (parts a & b)
005 alexa dot 2nd gen. holder
006 alexa dot 3rd gen. holder
007 skadis mounting plate *added due to user request*
008 flush cutters holder
009 Pliers holder the ones that came with your prusa
010 IPA Spraybottle holder for small bottles with a diameter of 31mm
Assembly
low friction spool holder
</br>
</br>
Watch the Video for the assembly</br>
</br> you will need:
two 608 ZZ bearings (from the MMU2s Kit)
two endcaps (from the MMU2s Kit)
one aluminum tube/rod (from the MMU2s Kit)
Part 003a
Part 003b
Remove the supports from part 003a
Cut the protruding end of rubber end cap flush and insert it in one of the 608 ZZ bearings
pressfit the combined parts into the back bearing mount in a way that the endcap is enclosed
pressfit the remaining 608 ZZ bearing in the front bearing mount
place the part 003b between the two bearings and slide the aliminum tube trough the front bearing all the way in
wiggle the tube onto the rear endcap and put the front endcap on the front
Congratulations you assembled the first spoolholder

Material
I recommend Prusament PLA and Orange PLA from PM (both available at the Prusa shop). Except for the MMU Buffer parts. For them I used PETG.
For example I used Prusa Galaxy Black PLA for the mounting plates, the barrel of the spool holder and orange PLA for the spool holder body. But in the end it is your choice :)</i>
Settings
I recommend to use the .amf files or the presliced gcode because they already include all the necessary settings
001 standard mounting plate for pegboards
- 0.2 mm layerheight
- 2 perimenters
- 20% infill
- add a modifier to set the infill for the pegs to 100%
002 mountingplate for solid underground
- 0.2 mm layerheight
- 2 perimenters
- 20% infill
003 low friction spoolholder
003a
- 0.2 mm layerheight
- 3 perimeters
- supports: not necessary (but won't hurt)
- 20% infill, Rectilinear
