I have little space on my desk but want to give my ants some travel distance between nest and arena like they would have in the wild. Solution: winding up a length of tubing into a spiral.
In addition, I had trouble connecting parts with different heights for connectors, so it helps to have these spirals to end up at different heights.
Inspired by a similar design on antstore.net, I designed this one from scratch. Works well with 10mm PVC tubing like this: https://www.antstore.net/shop/en/components/hoses/flexible-tube-transparent-10-06-mm.html
The arms snap into the base (pretty tight tolerances). There are two different heights that work with tubing length of up to 1m and 2.5m respectively and end up at the two heights the ant farms on antstore.net have connectors at (the bottom is at the height of their arena connectors).
