Pretty niche need, but if you have a high-velocity AC outlet and need to diffuse the high-velocity jet of air, this part fits into the outlet cover and redirects the flow to the side. I designed this because I have an AC outlet directly above a gas stovetop, and the AC flow would disrupt the stovetop flame.
Because of the stress relief features in the 2" adapter side, the part slides directly into the port, and the detents at the top engage with the top of the port to hold it in place.
There is a slight increase in flow noise when the part is in place, although it's pretty near a neutral white noise and not particularly loud.
