The southeastern facade of the Siftskirche Klosterneuburg showcases a depiction of Jesus Christ known as the Man of Sorrows. This representation portrays Jesus in a state of suffering, displaying the wounds of crucifixion, including the side wound, while still alive and not affixed to the cross. Originating in the 12th century within the cultural sphere of the Byzantine-Eastern Church, this portrayal takes the form of a half-figure of Christ standing upright within a sarcophagus. In the Byzantine-Eastern Church, it was regarded as the embodiment of the "King of Glory."
