Here is a box for a DC boost/step-up (or even a step-down buck-converter) based on the XL6019 circuit that is 50x28mm in size.
This has been designed to house the converter and a standard DC jack socket to fit on one end: repurpose those odd DC adapters to make your little adjustable power supply for those quick jobs an repairs, the jack socket makes easy to connect/disconnect the adapter.
The lid has two tabs to make it press-fit and remove, there's a hole exactly above the adjusting screw so you won't need to remove it all the time.
And there's a window (with two little pegs inside) to house a small voltmeter so you know exactly what's going on. The voltmeter only needs the black wire to the input ground, the red and white to the positive input and output.
The board module in the picture is sold under various name brands, this one I got it from Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08M38578T?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
and the voltmeter too: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0B7MC3CXB?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
