This mount alows tuning the tension on Drylin mounts for the yz-axis. It can also be used for the standard linear bearings.

I have printed these in Prusament ASA since the bed will heat up to 100 degrees.

You will need:

  1. Ruthex M3 brass heat inserts, these can be found at Amazon
  2. M3x10mm socket head cap screws. Other heads or lengths will work as well. If you are upgrading from the bearing clips you will only need 2 additional screw per bearing mount (6 in total). If you are upgrading from the U-bolts, you will need 4 per bearing (12 in total)
  3. M3 (locking) nuts, if you are upgrading from the U-bolts, you can reuse these nuts.
  4. A soldering iron for inserting the heat inserts, two heat insert per bearing mount.
  5. Bearings, Drylin RJ4JP-01-08 LMUU: L=24mm, D=15mm, d=8mm

How to disassemble:

  1. To unmount the heatbed assembly, unscrew the M3x4b screws and put the heatbed asside. Step 26 of: https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/4-print-head-heatbed-assembly_201450
  2. Disassemble the Y-axis front, unscrew the M5x20r screws. Step 10 of: https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/2-yz-axis-assembly_196824
  3. Disassemble the MINI-Y-belt-idler, unscrew the M3x20 screws: Step 17 of:https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/2-yz-axis-assembly_196824
  4. Now you can take out the Y-carriage, including the belts. Be carefull, you will have to take of the belt from the pully on the stepper motor.
  5. Uninstal the bearings on the Y-carriage, either by removing the U-bolts or by removing the bearing clips. Step 7 of: https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/2-yz-axis-assembly_196824

How to assemble

  1. Take your print, heat up your soldering station and insert the M3 brass heat inserts into your print. Make sure that they are flush with the print surface.
  2. Insert the bearing
  3. Place the M3 screws and (locking) nuts.
  4. Slide the bearing mount over the Y-axis rods.
  5. Check if there is play, tension the M3 screws if needed.
  6. Repeat this for all bearing mounts.
  7. After tensioning the drylin bearings, make sure that the heads of the M3 screws face outwards. This will allow you to increase/decrease tension on the Drylin bearings after reassembling.
  8. Place the Y-carriage over the mounts and screw in the M3x10 bolts.
  9. Reassemble Y-axis front
  10. Reassembe the belt and Y-carriage iddler.
  11. Reassemble the heatbed assembly.

REMARK: I found out that the bearing mount on the right side of the bed can hit the Y-axis stepper motor. Picking one of the mounts with extra spacing should solve the issue. Still, be carefull in selecting the right screw, the space between the bed and stepper is only 3 mm
