I had a look at all the designs that other users came up with, and although most of them was very useful and creative, they all shared the same issue in my opinion - too complicated for a basic job!

The biggest issue with the standard spool holder is that when the printer head moves to the opposite side of the X-axis at a high speed (jogging, printing, doesn't matter), it tends to yank the spool off the holder.

I designed this as a “permanent workaround” to the issue instead of a replacement of the existing components, and it works really well. I tested it with various spools to make sure it keeps the spool on the holder, but I obviously cannot test it on/for every size on the market.

Download it, test it - if it works, great (share a picture of it in your setup if you want to thank me) - if it doesn't, then you would have wasted a negligible amount of filament only.

Note: Please leave a comment if it needs some adjustment for a different spool size that it might not be compatible with in its current size.

  • Works with any printing configuration and with any material - might even work for some other printers too. Did not specifically test it on my _Snapmaker Original_, but if its able to fit on the spool holder then it will work there too.
(Due to the location of the spool holder on the enclosure of the SM1 I've never had this issue...thus no need for me to test it - but feel free to do so and leave a comment)
  • You don't need two like me - just one is necessary...but I like the symmetry. Stick it/them on the spool holder as indicated in the attached photos and you are done.
