Design trophy figure for the top of a trophy. Great to recognize outstanding student designs. I used this as an example for a student project on incorporating fasteners into a 3D printed part. The students all made their own trophy figures with similar captured nuts.
Trophy figure stands 90mm (3.5 inches) tall. Works great with a wooden base or could be used to replace a figure on the top of another trophy.
Notes:
Rotate +280 degrees (or -80 degrees) about X axis to lay the back surface flat on the bed as shown in the screenshots. Prints well with no supports.
Post-PrintingSpray paint all over, brush the details and clearcoat the finished part.
Assemble with a 1/4-20 nut in the slot and a 1/4-20 machine screw through a base.
Drill a little counterbore at the bottom of the base to hide the head of the screw.
The screw can insert between 10 and 18mm (about 3/8" to 11/16") into the part, so pay attention to the length of your screw. A 1" long screw through 1/2" (13mm) base material works well. You can add sections of PVC or wood with a 5/16 hole through it to make the trophy taller.
Or use standard trophy parts.
The fasteners are sized to fit standard 1/4-20 trophy threaded rod and couplings. If you want to use this to replace the top of another trophy it works great.
