While browsing through the Quick Flexis Contest (June23) files I had the amazing idea to make a 3D printed flexible flower wreath for the summer solstice that's coming up.

I loved the idea so much and I just HAD to make it. One problem… I don't know any software that's able to make such a thing. So nothing left to do, but to start learning Blender. I spend a few days following general tutorials (such as the donut of course) and watched a lot of video's of using certain tools I expected to be needing for this design.

It took me quite a while (and I was in a rush, since I really wanted to participate in this quick contest) and sooner than later I had my flower! I was sooooo happy and so exited to continue. But here came the hard part, making it articulated. Well, that turned out to be quite a task for a newly learned Blender user. I think I made 4 different connecters, just to find out that they don't work properly or at all. So in the end (in these final hours before closing the contest) I FINALLY printed a successful test!

Long story short, I persent to you - The Flexi Flower Wreath!!!

During these few days I've learned so much. Starting out from not understanding the most basic things in Blender, all the way to making an awesome design and actually knowing what I'm doing! I will definitely spend more time perfecting my articulated connectors and learning how to design the chain that way, so it fit's my printbed. For now I'm planning on using an elastic to secure it on my head. I guess we'll see how this turned out and deffinetly upload a better version any time soon!
