There are a lot of mounts for attaching cameras, and even many that are quite adjustable, but I just wanted a very simple way to mount a camera to the front of the bed without dealing with assembling anything or disassembling the printer. 

This mount attaches to the front via the Y-axis belt tension screw. It's designed for this Arducam model, but I've included a parameterized .step file so you can redesign the whole mount to match your specific model.

It's best printed on its side. I'm not amazing at designing models, so it does need minor supports. Some on the standoffs, and some on the topmost edge of the gap for the tensioning screw.

STEP file variables:

  • camWidth & camHeight: self-explanatory
  • camDepth: total size of the back of the PCB to the front of the lens (or frontmost part of the camera)
  • camMountHeight: How high you want the bottom of the PCB to be mounted
  • offsetFromBed: How far back the bed goes. This gets added to camDepth to be the total amount of distance from the bed
  • holeSpacing: How far the inner edge of the mounting holes is from the edge of the PCB. If your model doesn't have the same spacing across its mounts, you may have to edit the sketch directly to get it right. You'll find them in Sketch 8
  • mountHoleSize: how big the mount holes on your PCB are
  • cableHoleWidth & cableHoleHeight: size of the square hole located below the PCB for the cable to go below the mount to your printer or RasPi. Set to 0 if you don't want this hole.
