Modding an ender 5 into CoreXY brings a major benefit: freeing up the bottom of the gantry extrusions for mods like this nozzle wiper.

This consists of two PTFE tubes that brush against the nozzle to remove any built up filament. Reason I chose PTFE tube was that it doesn't stick so you don't get any buildup. You can optionally extrude about 10mm of filament before wiping the nozzle over so that the second PTFE tube can catch the filament and let it drop down.

Assembly: steps shown in photo. You can use a M2 screw to pull the nuts through before installing the ptfe tubes. When attached to printer, loosen the two M3 screws until it moves and adjust it to be about 0.5-1mm above the bottom surface of the nozzle, then tighten them again.

BOM:

Cleaning part:

2x 13mm PTFE tube, about 2 to 2.5mm ID - the common type on basically any 3d printer.

2x M2x20 SHCS

2x M2 hex nuts

Joining both parts:

2x M3x8 BHCS

2x M3x4 heat set inserts

2x M3 washers (optional)

Mounting to frame:

2x M4x8 BHCS

2x M4 t slot nuts

Cleaning procedure I use:

  1. Move nozzle to left of wiper
  2. extrude 10mm filament quickly and do a quick retract of 1mm
  3. move either way such that the nozzle moves over the ptfe tubes, mine does this move at 50mm/s
  4. Turn up acceleration and quickly move the nozzle over the two tubes to shake off anything that might have tangled around the tubes
  5. Go back to left of wiper
  6. Extrude 11mm at usual first layer flowrate
  7. Wipe nozzle on front tube quickly and start print, no need for prime line or skirt as pressure in nozzle already good.

You might need to change this for your printer
