Easy Pull Handle Assembly for 1up Bike Rack

This is a modification for the 1up bike rack that allows one to more easily pull the raise/lower handle. It can be used with single or multi-bike racks, but only multi-bike racks that were purchased as an add-on to a single. With some modification you could get it to work with racks that came as doubles or more from the factory, but I have not done this yet.

To complete the build you will also need the following hardware:

1. 1X 3/8" x 1.25" flat head hex bolt (multi bike only)
2. 1X 3/8" washer (multi bike only)
3. 1X 3/8" nut (multi bike only)
4. approx 24" 1/16" diameter wire rope (less for single bike)
5. 2x wire crimps for 1/16" diameter wire rope

See included exploded view for assembly guidance. Should be relatively self explanatory. Install the wire rope with the screw wire guides screwed all the way down with no shims, then once crimped, back them out and install shims under them and crank them down. This will properly tension the wire. Once the system has been used for a bit you may need to add more shims to tension the wire once it has stretched. I've included two different shim thicknesses.

Printing Notes:

I printed this using PETG for its flexibility and UV resistance. I have not tried this in PLA but I don't recommend it as this will be exposed to the elements. My only other notes are that I had the best results printing the screw-type guides with .15mm layer height, and I printed them solid because they'll experience the most wear and tear. Handle was printed with 40% infill.
