Description

PDF

This is a completely new mount for Hadley Telescope that is less shaky than the default printed option. Uses ø12mm or ø12.7mm tubes/rods and M4 metric screws or #10-24 UNC screws.

Updates

  • June 13th 2023: Release.
  • August 28th 2023: Revision 2 - Even sturdier than before. Not that the first wasn't good, but I was making another one, so I did a design update. 12.7mm variant now available too.
  • April 14th 2024: Revision 3 - Imperial fastener variant of Revision mount 2 added.

Bill of Materials and assembly for R2

  • 19 x M4x12 hexagon socket head screws ISO 4762, DIN 912 (or #10-24 UNC)
  • 19 x M4 hex nut ISO 4032, DIN 934 (or #10-24 UNC)
  • 1x ø12x140 tube or rod (or ø12.7mm)
  • 3x ø12x180 tube or rod (or ø12.7mm)
  • 6x ø12x500 tube or rod (or ø12.7mm)

The shortest tube connects the two top halves. Rest is pretty straightforward, but be careful when adding the last bottom triangle rod not to crack the feet. For this reason, wait for tightening of fasteners until the very end. You can look at the photo of finished mount for reference.

The screws can be longer, but would stick out.
