Hello guys,
because I love practical things and after a success of my not so practical Tetrahedron Chainmail Fabric I thought what kind of useful thing can I make it
into?
So I came up with this design. I adjusted the chainmail so the gaps are not as huge, flattened the tetrahedrons and made it into hexagonal shape. I also tried to get more contact surface on first layer.
For those of you wondering what kind of filament this is - I used 3D Jake Deep Space Magic PLA to get that amazing looking gradient. I would not recommend PLA if you want to use it with hot mugs as it could reach glass transition temperature, instead use PETG, ASA or ABS. And one last thing, I used concentric top fill pattern to get the tetrahedron-ish look.
NOTE: This is a challenging print and will require flawless bed adhesion and good printer calibration, particularly good retractions.
Available in .3mf, .stl and .step file formats. Feel free to edit the .step file if you need to adjust it to your needs.
