I had previously created some divider bins for the Plano 3701 storage case, but I eventually came to dislike the layered approach to storage. I really wanted to see everything in the bins at a glance while still increasing storage density.

So I came up with a new approach, did a better job at modeling the profiles of the bins to fit, considered how much flexibility I wanted to have, and produced the models we have here today.

They are designed to be mix and matched however you wished although I avoided the impulse to go down to single bin dividers. I've found in practice that the triple dividers are great for really small parts, where the doubles are good for larger parts. You then mix and match as your needs require. It also allows you to use the dividers supplied with the bins in the event you have even larger parts. So it's definitely not an all-or-nothing kind of solution.

Tips

  1. Slice your own printer files for best results.
  2. I highly recommend using a .4mm nozzle as the walls of these are intentionally thin (.6mm). Larger nozzles print faster, but seem to leave more voids.
  3. The top and bottom rows are unique and only work in those positions. This is due to the rounded corners and the clasps.
  4. The middle rows work on the rows between the top and bottom. They can be used within those rows to fit in any position. You can also use them in the top row as long as they're not in the outer most position.
