I wanted to make this tower as large as I could on my MK3, but I needed a reason to justify it, so I turned it into a bird feeder. I don't know if birds will actually want to use it because of the large spikes on top, but the opportunity is there. Honestly I just want to see tiny eagles land on the tower.
The modifications include hollowing out the top and adding drain holes so you don't end up with a bird bath instead of a bird feeder. Then I cut a large hole in sections 1-4 so that the tower can be mounted on a dowel, or metal rod for reinforcement. I had a large metal rod laying around so I sized it for that and left some room to fill the gap with expanding spray foam. Anything like an old broom handle should work though. Then I added cutouts for using my own double-ended snap hooks to connect the pieces. I also used E6000 glue when assembling for added strength. You can find the snap hooks here.
Finally, when assembling the model, pay attention to the square breakaway tabs that I added to the front inside corner of sections 3-11. These tell you which side should be aligned with the staircase on section 1.
