This is designed to use a piece of 2020 Aluminum, which the slider slides on, 8MM rods and any springs you can find that fit over the rods, all attached to any old piece of wood or suitable material
There are 2 bases Base & Tighter base 21 & 20.5mm respectively. I used the regular base and don't have any wobble but YMMV, you can insert a small wedge also
The length of the rods depends on how long your springs are and/or how much travel you want. Mine are 115mm and I use 3 small springs on each rod
There are different Arm combinations to cope with different 'reach' situations. Arm was the original piece, but I would print Arm Extension A instead. This gives the opportunity of using Arm Extension B if required in future and gives an additional length of reach
There are 2 soldering iron mounts, MountFront/Back for Weller type irons and Tapered Mount Front/Back for the cheap type like I have. The cheap one has a tapering handle, which tapers the wrong way but can be clamped comfortably. You may need to wrap some tape, cloth etc around the handle if your iron doesn’t quite fit
Ironically you need to install brass inserts into the jig to make inserting brass inserts easier!
Parts that require brass inserts (see attached photos)
