This is my attempt for the Organic Supports contest. I tried to make the supports themselves be the primary focus of the model.
You will need to trim the tops/sides of the organic supports where they meet the supports from the other pieces to ensure a good fit during assembly.
I recommend using the 3mf file for the butterfly parts. I've already painted on some supports. The blocks to the sides of the pieces are there to ensure the organic supports stay in a straight line. I printed mine with a 0.6mm nozzle and 0.2mm layer height. I've included support settings for 0.6 and 0.4 nozzles below.
I did not need to use any glue, everything was a fairly snug fit. For the frame, print 4 corners, 2 short, and 2 long pieces. Snap the side pieces onto the butterfly parts first, then attach the corners. A couple love taps with a mallet may be needed.
There is a blank background file which will give you one solid piece. And there is the butterfly background 3mf file which can be used for a multi-color background, or used with concentric fill for a different texture. You can pop the background in after assembling the rest of the print, just make sure to tuck the corners in to snap it into place.
