Your natural gas barbeque probably came with a plug and cap so that when the BBQ is disconnected from the main gas line at your house you can plug and cap off the connections to prevent dirt and spiders from entering the gas works and making your life miserable. Do you know where your plug and cap are for when you inevitably need them? Or have yours simply worn and cracked like mine have after 9 years?
My natural gas BBQ is a Weber, but other makes likely have the same type of gas hose and conenction.
