I'm releasing the second subset of my future RC car (a 1/10 UNIMOG chassis as accurate as possible - that's the goal !). The first subset was a limited slip differential you can find at

The portal axle is one of the new features in this new RC car design. There should also be an automatic 2 speed gearbox and a rack steering.
A portal axle allows to increase ground clearance. At 1/10 scale its 13 mm more clearance.
It is to be paired with my Michelin 335/80 R20 XZL tire / wheel - Unimog edition (to come).
This time I've considered the assembly to be all 4 portal axles so usually parts are needed in x4 quantity except for the steering links which is x2 with 2 different parts depending on the position in the car (Front Right = Rear Left and Front Left = Rear Right).
I'm also providing a print file for the Front Right portal axle alone if you want to try it.
In the final design the rear steering links will be blocked by rods. If I figure the geometry I could possibly have some rear steering but that's on the back burner.
There are 2 helical gears in each portal axle. The right one is supposed to go on the upper (drive) axle while the left one goes on the lower wheel axle. (In fact it does not matter provided the 2 gears of each portal axles have opposite handedness). You also need x4 MR117-2RS ball bearings (that's a total of 16 for 4 wheels).
The gears and the steering links are embossed so that you can tell which one is which.
Per portal axle you will need 2x 16 mm screws and one 8 mm screw; the nuts are not really needed.
As usual my naming convention for parts is:
XXXnn-kk-name
XXX = sub assembly
nn part number within this assembly
kk number of instances needed in one single instance of the sub assembly
