My A drive frame remix for a Voron 2.4R2 adds an umbilical mount, relocates the Y endstop, and adds a slot to route the endstop wires.  By integrating the endstop into the frame you should not lose any total Y travel.  However, I did lose a millimeter of travel so you should double check to be safe.

I also enlarged the bend radius for the umbilical cable by shifting the Z drag chain mount 12.5 mm to the end of the drive frame.  I used IGUS Chainflex CF113-018-D for my umbilical cable and it did not want to bend to the default wire routing.  (In fact, the bend was tighter than the recommended usage from the manufacturer.)  If shifting the drag chain causes any problems, I also modeled a non-widened version.

For the umbilical mount you will need

  • (4) M3x5x4 heat set inserts
  • (4) M3x12 SHCS
  • (2) M2x10 self tapping screws for plastic for a microswitch endstop

I include several hole diameters for the wide umbilical mount packaged together in a zip file.  If you want a custom mount I also include step files.  Be sure to extrude a custom hole for your umbilical.

Using a new endstop will change the homing behavior on your printer!  After installing, be sure to walk through the relevant startup checks on the Voron docs: https://docs.vorondesign.com/build/startup/#xy-homing-check.

Special thanks to the Voron design team.  Thanks for visiting, and enjoy!

Differences of the remix compared to the original

This remix for the A Drive Frame adds several features that compliment a CAN Bus toolhead update.  It adds a Y endstop, an umbilical mount, and widens the wire routing to the Z cable chain mount.
