In some cases the genuine Sovol filament run-out sensor causes too much friction, leading to extrusion problems.

One of the issues is the sensor itself, which can be addressed by using the following sensor casing mod:

The other issue, even if your Sovol sensor is working fine, is that the original arm holding the sensor is too short, keeping the sensor very close to the frame thus forcing filament to be fed into the sensor at wide angles. This particular mod solves this issue.

Simply replace the genuine Sovol arm with extended one. 42mm is perfect fit for standard 70mm wide filament spools. Use longer arms for wider spools.

You can replace the arm only or also the sensor casing to get as little friction as possible.

Printing and Assembly

Print is straight forward, with no supports needed (even if there are some small overhangs). Print with minimum layer height and 100% infill.

Assembly is also straight forward, just replace the genuine arm with the printed one. When re-assembly make sure that the sensor is moving quite freely on the bolt with collar (it may be necessary to tighten the bolt only a little, and in that case I suggest to use some thread glue, i.e. blue Loctite).
