Hi there,
I was looking for a solution to print a bi-compound PLA-TPU object without Multifilament, It is well known that TPU and PLA are not well stackkable as it is not sticking well to each other. see

I illustrate My concept with a ping pong raket… It is largely inspired from those plastic Ping pong raket from cornillaud…(produced  by injectionmolding see the original raket I have here)

you may have seen this feature of interconnected TPU -PLA printing to interlock each plastic subprint to the other one in order toget a physical link between them… I am not the first to think about that…

I do not have a MMU or a palette with my Prusa mini…so My strategy was to create a sandwich TPU external face - PLA (Body)- TPU external face. with some grooves designed on the raket that I will fill  after printing with TPU using a 3d doodle pen. It maintains the two faceson top of pla… i also filled the 4 holes with tpu in that way. THis is the principles of riveting…

I added height modifiers to print open hexagonal infill TPU-and tried to set a color change (automatic ) during in the slicing.

I had to change the filament during printing manually (and then set temperature below 230°C and speed to 150% when changing to pla filament… otherwise tpu from PLA then back to 240°C and 100% speed) ..to do so it may clog the nozzle if you do not make the temperature changes at this point… It is essential…

Another strategy could be printing an in between layer on which the TPU is well sticking to it.

I tried by adding a glue coat on the tpu.. it was not working well see the picture with an *…maybe using acrylic paint may work or printing tpu on pvb would work… I will try a smaller object to confirm…as I have this here. also flexible pla?is it sticking to pla?

This could be an alternative.

and yes this miss the handle It is not yet designed…

actually if pse had an option to split with a snap fit feature instead of  pin or  conical plug.. this could come very handy….

but each new feature is amazing…thk to the dev a lot for their awesome work and contribution….

and I am not filiated to the 3d printing general at all or cura….
