I made ridiculous demands in my 3D model.  Shapes, positions, and angles: they are unconnected, floating, oblivious.  Ingredients for making spaghetti.

Then I asked PrusaSlicer to create organic supports for it.  A list of pointless todos.  Nothing has been measured.  Nothing matches, or fits or matters. There’s order, but it merely impersonates purpose.

It had a constructive and artistic response.  I tuned that response by choosing silly values for parameters that drive the supports.  I wanted chaos but it wanted something that will work. It’s meant to be practical, to solve problems.  I wanted to unsolve them.  I wanted to find the edge of what doesn’t work and stand precariously looking for islands that might be reached.

I tormented it, because good art comes from torment, from chaos.  It was an unwilling artist.

I asked the unreasonable and the impossible.  I dismissed every success. Finally it relented and offered a compromise.  Something that might print. Maybe.  Probably.  It’s worst cases are my goal,  so we’re at cross purposes.   It’s playing Calvin-ball with me.  I don’t get to make all the rules, but I get to decide when the game is over.

The model in the photos was printed with Eryone Tri-color RGB PLA filament.

I had printed a 100% scale version too but it was too fragile and the reduced size meant thin parts didn't have time to cool properly.  That led to excessive stringing and deformation of small details.

The model in the photos was printed at 150% scale.  15% gyroid infill. Auto-generated organic supports with 0 top contact distance.  With sheath around the support.  Interface pattern spacing 0.  XY separation 0.  Preferred branch angle 80º.  Branch diameter angle 4º.  Perimeter speed 40.
