The Phantom from Titanfall 2, 3D printable and fully articulated. Featuring moveable wings(?), openable canopy with a cockpit interior, pivotable thrusters, rotating guns, and nonfunction landing gear!
No screws or glue necessary, though maybe some sanding and scotch tape.
Some of these parts require supports, some don't. I was able to successfully print all the pieces, so hopefully it isn't too hard to figure out.
Print one of every piece except for straton exploded, except for the ones with _x# at the end, in that case print that amount of the piece. So print 2 wing panels, 2 clips, 2 guns, 2 tail bases, and 4 thrusters, but one of everything else. Don't print straton_exploded, that's just for reference.
Most of the parts should fit together without any sanding. I printed all the parts at 0.15mm layer height.
Use the straton_exploded STL for reference. The pins are 1.75 milimeter filament.
If some parts are loose, just put a little bit of scotch tape over it before inserting it, and it should tighten it while still allowing movement.
The three main body pieces (hull front, hull mid, hull rear) are held together by clips. These clips should lock the hull pieces together reasonably well. The side hull pieces will slot into pegs on the sides of hull mid and hull front
The wing panel parts were very loose on mine, and the pins for them were a really tight squeeze into the hull side pieces.
The two landing gear pieces suck right now, they can't go up and down like actual landing gear, but just stay up because otherwise they fall right out.
The clips are a little too long, leaving a little sub-milimeter gap between the two sections of the hull. Not sure if its an issue with the model or my printer. Not a big problem for the front and mid section because the side hull pieces keep them nice and secure, but the rear hull piece wiggles a bit too much.
All the files are called straton because that's what the fighter was called in the game files. I guess I'm too lazy to change it.
Hopefully I'll address these issues. Later. In the future. Maybe.
I did not make the base model itself. That was taken from the game files. But I heavily modified it to be 3D printable and articulate-able.
