I did not like the wheels of the robot, because it destroys the lawn. So i build a fully printable chain drive for it. For me it works perfect. No more stucks, no more hole diggin from the wheels.

Its easy to print and easy to mount. But you need to cut the chassi a bit and also the charging station has to be modified a bit (cut with a grinder).

It was a fun project and i benefit from it a lot, cuz my robot is running without issues now.

Please leave a comment / like. Maybe there are changes i need to do.

Currently working and tested on the model WG765e.

Printing:

  • I suggest printing the parts in PETG (because  PLA wont last long outside) i printed the chain parts out of ABS …
  • Do not print too many Chain parts in one shot, so the layer adhesion is good ( i printed 6 pieces in 1 shot and it worked fine)
  • The “Aufnahmearm” needs to be mirrored 1 time. So print 1x as it is, then mirror in your slicer and print again, also print with 4-5 Walls and Bottom/Toplayers !! Make this one as tough as possible
  • Resulution: 0.2 , Infill ~25%, Wall perimeter 3-4

What you also need:

  • M8 rod about X330mm length (1x)
  • M8 nut (4x)
  • M10x60 screw (2x)
  • M10 self securing nut (2x)
  • M10 Nut (2x)
  • M10 washer (2x)
  • M8 washer (4x)
  • M3x16 screws (8x)
