Motivation

One of the five original glass shades broke and I did not want to throw the whole lamp im the trash. So I designed a 3D printable shade and hoped that PETG / PCTG would hold up to the temperatures. Spoiler: it does!

Printing

Mounting holes print normal, the shade prints in vase mode. Use the provided 3MF file to have it configured correctly. If you can't use Prusa Slicer, please use vase mode and increase the “normal print layers” until the mounting holes and the frame are covered.

Material

PLA will probably not work as the part gets hot due to the heat of the incandescent bulb.

Clear PETG works best, it does not get soft and looks nice.

Clear PCTG works just as well, I used this because it is supposed to have an even higher heat tolerance compared to PETG.

You can of course get fancy by using colored transparent filaments.

Final thoughts

I think it looks nicer than the original therefore I replaced all off them.
