Description

PDF

This is a remix of metric Hadley telescope that fits a full length lightweight vase mode printed tube cover.

I've put here only the modified files that replace the upper assembly, bearing assembly and lower telescope assembly. For remaining parts and instructions, look at the Hadley Telescope - Official Metric Remix

Updates

2023-09-15: Parts for 0.5" rods added

Print instructions

The tubes or shrouds are meant to be printed as spiral vase mode. Check this option on in your slicer and set bottom solid layers to 0 and extrusion width of external perimeters to 0.8mm.

All parts are printed without supports.

Tube assembly instructions

There are 2 options how to build the tube, one looks nicer (shown), the other can be removed or added at any time without disassembling the telescope.

First option

  • Print and assemble Shroud A 4x - everything screws into itself or lower telescope assembly.
  • Collimate and focus the telescope to know final position of upper telescope assembly.
  • Measure the distance d between shroud and the upper telescope assembly.

  • Then print shroud B in slicer with lenght d+32mm (It was 92mm for mine, but each telescope might differ) Do not scale the Shroud B, but cut it in slicer to desired length instead.
  • After that you can remove the UTA, screw in the last shroud piece and add UTA back to finish the telescope.
  • Lastly, print the upper tube piece on the top of the telescope from Shroud B again - cut in slicer, do not scale, and screw it on the UTA.

Second option

  • Print 3x Shroud A and put it in - screws to LTA or itself.
  • Print full lenght Shroud B and Shroud C, screw them into each other, insert between the telescope rods, screw into the uppermost Shroud A and expand the length by screwing out the Shroud C from within Shroud B.
  • Lastly, print the upper tube piece on the top of the telescope from Shroud B again - cut in slicer to desired length, do not scale, and screw it on the UTA.

Fasteners

Nearly all of these are reused from the official Hadley Metric telescope. Only fasteners related to this remix are listed - you'll need more for full telescope build.

  • 6 x M4x12 hexagon socket head screws for the ø12 rods
  • 6 x M4 hex nut

Bearing assembly

  • 10 M4x20 hexagon socket head screws to attach bearings
  • 6 x M4x12 hexagon socket head screws for the ø12 rods
  • 16 M4 hex nut
