Custom insect screen for your yacht's portlights. Keeps bugs out, lets air in, adds privacy, prevents rainwater from pouring in. Potentially also makes it harder for sound to get in and out of your vessel. No need to close portlights when it rains or when you wash your boat.
Please leave requests in the comments, I'll be sure to make designs for more models. Or just download the .shape file, open in ShapeScript, and generate the model that fits your portlight.
Go with rigid or semi-flexible, UV-resistant filament; definitely avoid PLA (melts in the sun), ideally use something semi-opaque (to let more light in and make your cabin lights visible at night).
If printed on an FDM printer, there'll be many artifacts inside the mesh — the best way to get rid of them is either by using a lighter or heat gun.
Optionally, you can glue a much finer mesh on either side of the screen.
Double-check to make sure it's not flipped — otherwise the water will end up getting into your boat, instead of being kept out. After that, while inside the boat, pull the rubber gasket back, and “trap” the six tabs between the aluminum frame and the rubber. That's it, you're now safe from insects, prying eyes, and water droplets!
