Background to the design

On my city bike from Scott, the rear clamps for the fender struts torn open. As I suspect, it was not caused by my doing or a careless driving style, but by an improper repair the dealer made. Actually outrageous for the rather high price back then, but whatever.

As a result, the rear fender was no longer fixed and was rubbing against the tire. To solve the problem, I used my Prusa 3D printer to help me out. And what should I say about the result: It is really impressive how well the replacement clamps work! Pressing against the fender with your hand and half power, the struts do not move any noticeable way.

Please note that the model is of course designed for my bike and therefore M5 screws and the appropriate washers (10 mm outside diameter) must be used. So check in advance whether this clamp even fits your bike!

Information about printing

The part is available as .stl file so that you can make the settings that suit you and your printer best. Alternatively, there is a ready-made .gcode uploaded with which you can start printing directly. But check the configurations in advance!

In order to create the .gcodes, I used PrusaSlicer version 2.5.

I recommend to use at least PETG, since this part is intended for outdoor use. Even this may cause stringing (more or less depending on how good you calibrated your printer in before), because it is a mechanical part, though, stringing should not disturbing you while installing or in use.
