This compass is quick to print and is handy around my woodshop.  I got the idea from John Heisz and his compact compass.  I have a 3D printer so thought that it would be great practice to continue honing my 3D modeling skills and use the printer for useful tools.

The model has a pre-threaded post that accepts an M5 nut and the hole is designed for a mechanical pencil.  I have created a recess to accept an 18GA brad nail with a little super glue to hold it in place.

I printed it at 100% infill to give strength to the post

  • Top part
    • infill - 100%
    • print time - 13m
    • filament used - 3.15g
  • bottom part
    • infill - 100%
    • print time - 16m
    • filament used 3.65g
