I designed this case in Fusion360 and printed on a Bambu X1C with AMS and PLA.
I started with a 3d model using t-splines in the form workspace.
After the first test print showed minor adjustments to be made.
I then converted the surface model to a solid and included a few features that -
- Allow scanner to stand upright
- Textured grip(emboss) pattern
- Hole for a tripod or handle mount
- Cutouts for the screen, buttons, fan and cable
I designed this case because i recently got a new 3d printer and wanted to make a full case for this 3d scanner.
I used standard settings plus:
- 0.6mm nozzle
- Tree supports(hybrid, max spacing 2mm, interface layer is support for pla)
- Matte black Bambu PLA filament
- Z seam aligned.
It took approx. 5hours to print the complete case on standard speed.
Hardware required:
M3x12mm machine screws will be required for attaching the front case to the rear case section.
I hope that if you have an Einstar scanner you will print this model to protect the scanner from scratches and accidental damage!
Please let me know if you have any problems with the print, or any suggestions about the design!
I have also included the .step file which should be easy to edit/add/remove features if you want to change something!!
Update - After feedback i have included a version of this case that includes a handle!
Please be aware i have not yet printed this case that has the handle so if you choose to print this version let me know how it is for size. To design the handle i used a mold of my hand grip so it should be very comfortable for both left & right hands. Supports may be required depending on your print settings!!
