Have you ever wanted to get some gears spinning fast? Really fast?
Then this model is for you! It's a simple model that requires no support to print, and the Base holds the gears just in place to get them to spin perfectly. Then, you can add as many as you want!
Every gear adds a 3:1 gear ratio, 60:20 teeth per gear. I printed 8 of them, but that seemed a little too much for the friction to handle. I recommend 6 of them for the maximum speed.
If you have any 5 mm rods at home, that's perfect. I used some wooden rods I found and they worked perfect, but I included a file with a 3D-printable 10 cm long rod, which is more than enough for 6 gears.
Print with:
0.12 - 0.28 mm layer height
3 walls
10% infill
4 top/bottom layers
Update 2024-05-28
I added a second version of the gear (Gear v2), with a slightly raised circle to reduce friction while spinning. Thanks @ljbelenky for the suggestion!
