I needed to surface mount a light fixture on an exterior brick wall so I created a shallow box with just enough room for the wire nuts. The shorter boss is used to mount the box to the wall, I used a plastic anchor. The boss in the center is where the fixture mounts. There's a 6mm hole/slot at the bottom for the cable. I created a patch to seal up the slot prevent wasps from nesting in the box.
The base of my fixture is 4 5/8" in diameter or about 117mm. I put a short lip on the edge to center the fixture on the box.
The black box was a PLA test print, I did the final print in “natural” color ASA. The fixture came with a foam seal which I installed in the final version.
I added ribs/web for strength, my wire nuts fit OK but I also uploaded a version without the ribs.
