I designed and printed this case to protect my Incra protractor. The protractor itself is useful for woodworking and designing applications; however the tool comes in a cheap little cardboard box. I wanted to design and build a case that lets me safely store it in my work bag to bring to my woodshop without damaging it on route.

Printing and build instructions:

Print the top and bottom separately, with the flat faces lying on the printer bed. I have also included latches that keep the top and bottom closed. You will need (6x) M3*20mm machine screws for this build; 2 for the back hinges and 4 for the front latch mechanism. I would recommend printing the all parts using a brim, and supports for the hinge and latch M3 clearance holes.

Additionally, the mortise and tenon joinery that connects the top and bottom box lids is quite tight. You will likely need to sand the tenon to get a snug fit that is comfortable to you. I put some paraffin wax on the tenon to make the case easier to open. This model was printed in green Prusament PLA. Give it a shot and feel free to remix it to suit your needs. :)
