NOTE : It is important to note there is a risk of modifing the AMS unit which is already well designed and engineered by BambuLabs. Please consider whether you are comfortable adding this to your AMS unit. I hope this is useful, but it is not an essential add-on for the AMS unit.
This Filament Cleaner is designed for the BambuLab's AMS cartridge and allows AMS lid to be closed. Even though the AMS keeps filament roll within a clean environment, it is possible that a roll of filament is not 100% clean from factory and any rolls of filament kept outside the AMS unit in the open air will attact dust and fibres. The aim is to reduce the chances of debris entering the machine.
Two parts need to be printed, the Pot and the Lid. The pot is printed upside down and will need supports, trees supports worked well. STL's are in correct orientation and 3mf file included (from OrcaSlicer).
Place sponge around filament, feed filament into pot and press sponge down below top edge, then place lid over the top and click into place.
Attach the pot to the AMS by sliding from the back of the AMS cartridge (helps if filament is not poking too far from bottom of pot) over the circle of the main filament entry. It will clip in place. Once in place filament can be pushed through into AMS cartridge as normal.
Tested with full roll of eSun filament in place and opening and closing of AMS lid.
Printed in PLA+, .20mm layer height.
Make sure sponge is in good enough condition to ensure bits of sponge are not released, an alternative I have used in the past is using slim cut piece of microfibre cloth wrapped enough to fill space.
