Тhe caps on my travel bottles broke, but I did not want to throw them away, so I used the opportunity to create my first parametric design. Feedback is more than welcome!
The design uses a cylindere and the coil function for the thread. As my bottle caps had one thread, I also created the model with one thread, if there is intersest, I can try a two-threaded design.
Parameters:
- InsideDiameter - Inside diameter of the cap. Measured wall to wall, without the threads.
- Thickness - Sets how thick should the cylinder be. I recommend making it thicker than the original.
- OutsideDiameter - The outside diameter of the cap. Results automatically from InsideDiameter + 2*Thickness.
- Height - Height of the bottle cap, measured from the inside.
- ThreadRevo - Number of rotations on the thread.
- ThreadProtrusion - How much should the thread extend/protrude from the wall.
- ThreadHeight - This is the offset where the thread will start from the bottom of the cap. This parameter might need some fiddling to set the right distance between the start of the thread and the bottom of the cap.
Suggested print settings:
- PETG;
- 0.15 Quality Preset on the Mini;
- 15% infill;
- 3 perimeters.
Happy printing!!
