My take on a silica gel container using honeycomb infill for the top and bottom of the model to get a nice grid of holes.

I've included files for the large (180x100x25mm) and small (60x60x15mm) box.

Was inspired by https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/3253-silica-holder

Print instructions

Important if you need to re-slice the model, the honeycomb pattern is produced in PrusaSlicer by using the following settings:

  • Layers and perimeters > Perimeters = 4
  • Layers and perimeters > Solid layers Top = 0 Bottom = 0
  • Infill > Fill density = 30% (controls the size of the honeycomb cells)
  • Fill pattern > Honeycomb

Model uses thin walls that are the correct size for 0.3mm layer height to avoid any gap-fill.

The FreeCAD model is parametric. If you open it with FreeCAD (I used v0.18.4) then you can edit the Params spreadsheet to change the size of the box. Then, select the box and lid and export them as STLs.
