I saw something like this being made as a woodworking project on Instagram, so I designed a version that can be 3D printed.
Print Instructions
There are three main parts to to the model:
I printed all parts with a 0.4mm nozzle at a 0.2mm layer height. Larger nozzles should work, the text may just lose a bit of resolution and the puzzle pieces may be a bit tighter to fit.
The “Mom” piece goes in the centre of the puzzle. Use your slicer to add text onto the blank puzzle pieces that you want to make for the family names. The font used is Calibri, but I've added a blank centre piece if you want to use your own font.
The insert includes the text and inner frame - these are on the same layer if you want to pause and change filament for different colours (if you don't have a multi material printer).
If you use a 0.2mm layer height then the filament change needs to be at the start of the 7th layer.
The outer frame is already oriented face down on the build plate so it can be printed “as is”.
Assembly
The insert should be glued into the outer frame, and the puzzle pieces need to be glued down to the insert. Super glue (CA glue) works fine for this.
I used the below picture frame stand, it fits the model nicely:

The author marked this model as their own original creation.
