This modification allows you to remove the 3 LEDs from the end of the light to be used with another project and replace the lights with a blank panel. In this process one short piece of wire soldered across two contacts make the other light work as an off/on light.
Harbor Freight, over the years, made several variations of this light. I designed two blank panels that hopefully covers all. If the light has the long cob light use the file HFT 3LED Cob Lens with HFT 3LED 475 Spacer. If you have an older 27 LED light use HFT 3LED 27 Lens with HFT 3LED 525 Spacer. That is the combination that worked for me.
Parts print at 20% infill. Since there is a curve on the blank 0.1mm layer height gives a better finish on that surface. If the backing spacer seems to loose, a spot of glue or hot glue can be used.
3 LED wiring: Board types: 27 LED with small 3 LED board with wires attaching the two, 27 LED with 3 LED on one board, Cob with 3 LED board with wires attached, two different types. Clip 3 led board wires from its source, main board or cob light, If it is a separate board, not a board with the switch. Otherwise clip or desolder the LEDs from board. (Side note: I have another flashlight project utilizing three sets of the LEDs plus the associated resistor and a switch and button from a light.) The switch has one contact on one side and two on the other. Solder across the two contact to make it an on/off switch only. reassemble and test. Never wonder again which light will come on when the button is pressed.
